In hunger, we do not think about fixing tires, or making good grades at school, or what shade of lipstick will match our shoes. In hunger we would realize why the poor do not care for their education, and the rich nearly drown in harbored resources.

Perhaps only in hunger that our selfishness and failure to believe may be forgiven.

Me? I don't know with others but wheenever I fast, I feel that I can more understand how it is to be like those who cannot eat as well as i do for most of the year. I remember a Hadith in which the Blessed Prophet indicated that those who don't have the significance of the fast in their hearts are the ones who feel the most hunger. Of course you don't have to be hungry to feel the pain of poverty, but Ramadan aside, you can't lead people, and you can't expect them to follow you if everyone's starving!!

i still can not accept that fasting in islam make you understand hanger or poor people's hunger and all that stuff. it's not, when i am hungry i think of food and wanting to stop the pain not others. i don't have to be hungry to feel the pain of the poor and their sufferings.
